Moldova: the online job market
Today, there are about 1.5 million people of working age in Moldova, of whom over a quarter use the Internet, including for job searches. One of the most popular Moldovan job boards is Bestjobs.md, owned by the Romanian company Neogen.
Bestjobs.md is visited by about 50,000 unique users each month. This recruitment site’s visitors are not just people who are out of work (the country’s unemployment rate is approximately 7%), but also people who are not happy with their current job and are looking for work with better conditions.
Most job-seekers are interested in working in commerce, management, finance, IT and tourism. On average, employers can expect an average of 150 responses to each ad.
Forty per cent of Bestjobs.md users hold a university degree, 60% can speak English, Russian or Romanian, and 75% can offer experience from previous employment. Due to the difficult economic situation, many Moldovans are prepared to travel for work both within their own country and abroad.
