Czech Job-seekers Express Record Interest in Online Job Ads
In January, employers received a record number of replies to job ads entered in LMC's electronic system, which covers the lion's share of the Czech online job market. HR managers received 203,934 responses to ads posted on LMC's three Czech boards Jobs.cz, Prace.cz, Hotjobs.cz and one Slovak board Topjobs.sk. This is a 56% rise on January 2007.
"January always returns the largest number of replies from candidates,"says Marek Jírů, an analyst at LMC. "Compared to December, we registered an increase in the number of replies by 92%. One reason for this is that some employees’ contracts expire at the end of the year, and at the beginning of the year people tend to be more on the lookout for a new job. Even disregarding that factor, however, the January figures clearly show that momentum on the labour market was extremely high in January anyway, which is kind of a paradox when we consider how low Czech unemployment is."
Jaroslav Páviš, Česká spořitelna's recruitment director, confirms the exceptional level of responses in January: "Compared to last year, we documented a 29% rise in replies, even though we would really have expected the response to job ads to be lower given the country’s record low unemployment. We didn’t even promote recruitment with any special campaigns."
The previous e-recruiting market record was notched up in October 2007, when adverts drew 178,266 replies from job-seekers.
Increased interest in job offers on LMC's international online recruitment sites, interlinked by the LMC G2 application, can be attributed in part to the new Agent search service and a January advertising campaign promoting LMC's services. "There was a rise in the number of people visiting www.jobs.cz by 12% and www.prace.cz by 48% year on year in January," explains LMC marketing specialist Lucie Šarešová.
